Since the release of the Electoral Boundary report, the now defunct Bukit Batok SMC has now become defunct. The Singapore Democratic Party has announced new stratergies in light of changing political situation.
SDP’s Northern Strategy for GE2025

Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) chief Chee Soon Juan will contest the newly formed Sembawang West SMC in the 2025 General Election, while party chairman Paul Tambyah will run again in Bukit Panjang SMC.
Dr. Chee announced his candidacy on March 23 at Woodlands Mart, emphasizing SDP’s long-standing presence in Sembawang since the 2000s. His move comes after Bukit Batok SMC—where he previously contested—was absorbed into Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC.

Prof. Tambyah, who secured 46.26% of votes in Bukit Panjang in 2020, said he has made significant progress engaging residents and looks forward to a competitive contest.
SDP also plans to contest Sembawang GRC, with more details to be announced. The National Solidarity Party has also expressed interest in Sembawang West SMC, but Dr. Chee hopes to avoid a three-cornered fight.
Health Minister Ong Ye Kung attributed the boundary changes to population growth, but it is unclear if Poh Li San, the current MP overseeing Sembawang West, will contest the new SMC.
Here’s to hoping that Singaporeans finally let Dr Chee into parliament. Its been a long time since the early 90s but this man has proven his tenacity.
