The People’s Action Party (PAP) is Singapore’s dominant political party, having been in power continuously since 1959. Founded in 1954, the PAP was initially a diverse coalition that spearheaded the movement for Singapore’s independence from British rule. Under the leadership of its first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, the party navigated the complexities of nation-building, overseeing Singapore’s separation from Malaysia in 1965 and guiding the transformation of the island nation into a developed and prosperous global city.
While its early ideology encompassed democratic socialism, the PAP has since evolved towards a more pragmatic and centre-right stance, emphasizing meritocracy, multiracialism, and a strong, incorruptible government. As of April 2025, the party remains the ruling political force, led by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who succeeded Lee Hsien Loong on May 15, 2024, marking a significant leadership transition.
The PAP in past elections have been suffering from a PR issue with the youth. High Housing prices, Cost of Living, highly competitive economy. The list goes on.

With the recent moves of DPM Gan Kim Yong from Chua Chu Kang GRC to Punggol GRC to block the worker’s party and the return of Ng Chee Meng to Jalan Kayu SMC. The PAP seems to be actively scrambling to secure its super majority in Parliament.
PAP Campaign Strategy
The PAP as per every election touts its horn about its legacy as the competent party being able to form a government. Election poster are simple with 3 Main types :

Poster of Lawrence Wong

PAP election strategy is to ride on Lawrence Wong as the face of the party, being a rather popular prime minister on tiktok and social media. His charisma is used to entice swing voters.
Let me be clear, the PAP is not going to lose the election. A PAP government will form an election. Do not let any fear mongering from supporters of the PAP scare you. The PAP will win this election but by how much?
Lawrence Wong is a good Prime Minister, but I cannot say much about his fellow party members. The PAP’s super majority for the entire history of Singapore has left them complacent and delirious with power. Although some initiatives were led by the new PM with more talks and consultations with the ground, his party as an institutions behaves rather benevolently and almost above society.
Like the free market, Parliament should be a free and fair institution able to get people in with ideas without any strong obstacles. The PAP, engaging in fear mongering, dirty tactics like gerrymandering and for a lack of better term (engage in petty politics) is not a sign of strength. The PAP of old is no more. The PAP can only go about its nonsense for so long. Singapore’s democracy is maturing, and with it, new parties form and some parties vanish into history.
Vote Wisely.
